AGvisas is a specialist visa visa consultancy for the WA and South Australian primary industry sector.

We regularly assist clients with advice on visa options for horticultural, agricultural, meat, dairy and fishing industries.

We specialise in assisting with Labour Agreements, which allow businesses to sponsor workers in occupations that are usually not “sponsorable” (eg fork lift driver, cold store manager).

AGvisas can assist with strategic planning, occupational alignment, skills assessments and visa processing. We work closely with specialist firm Estrin Saul Migration Specialists to achieve your optimal workforce planning outcome.

News – The new agricultural visa - Is it the solution the industry had hoped for?

The new Agricultural visa was introduced in September 2021 and is being rolled out in phases. It promises to provide a solution for short-medium term worker shortages, but may not be as attractive as the Labour Agreement program for attracting a quality workforce seeking permanent residence in Australia.

The new Agricultural visa was designed to:

  • Respond to workforce shortages in agriculture and primary industry sectors
  • Bridge the supply gap of casual labour due international border closure
  • Reduce reliance on Working Holiday Maker program for labour
  • Replenish workers lost as part of new trade deal with the UK (that has removed the requirement for UK backpackers to work on farms for 88 days before they extend their stay in Australia)
  • Build on the existing Pacific schemes: this new visa is to operate alongside the Seasonal Worker Program (SWP) and the Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS)
  • Ensure Australia achieves target for primary industries to reach $100 billion by 2030

The new visa is available for the agriculture (including meat and processing), fisheries and forestries, dairy and horticulture and farming sectors and can be used by citizens of the UK, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Applicants will receive a visa to live in Australia for 3 years, provided they:

  • perform agricultural work for the bulk of their time in Australia; and
  • return to their home nation for 3 months each year

We can assist with:

  • becoming an Agricultural visa sponsor
  • visa processing
  • assess options and eligibility for existing and new workforce
